Over 35 years of fermentation expertise
We’ve been mastering the natural fermentation process since 1987. Today, the perfect balance of temperature and time keeps our live yogurt cultures growing and our bifidus multiplying by the billion.
Inspired by scientific breakthroughs on bifidobacteria in the 1980s, our scientists tested hundreds of bacterial strains to see which ones could survive and grow in milk.
In 1985, we developed the ultimate combination of strains but found that bifidus could not survive the 43°C temperatures of traditional yogurt techniques.
To create the perfect conditions for our bifidus to thrive, in 1987 we crafted a special blend of yogurt ferments that like to work at lower temperatures, and launched the Activia that is known and loved today.
