We continue to grow each year through our investments in nutrition research, and through the hard work of our talented Danoners. Our journey, including the one handled through the “Société à Mission” status, ensures that this growth makes a positive difference to society and the environment.

Danone is a leading global food and beverage company with three main fast-growing categories: Essential Dairy and Plant-based products, Waters, and Specialized Nutrition. We’re driven by our mission to bring health through food to as many people as possible by creating nutritious products, raising awareness about healthy eating and drinking habits, and conducting our business sustainably. Our portfolio includes leading international brands, as well as brands tailored to specific regions. With almost 90,000 employees, and products sold in over 120 markets, Danone generated €27.6 billion in sales in 2023. 


Our new Renew Danone strategy is our plan to create long-term value for our business by  innovating with our partners, while supporting vulnerable communities. Today, Danone is a component stock of leading sustainability indexes, and our ambition is to be B-Corp certified at global level by 2025.

It all started with a yogurt

Our history

Health through food has been at the heart of Danone for over a century, starting with Isaac Carasso's first pot of yogurt in 1919, sold in pharmacies in Barcelona to help children with digestive problems. Since then, Danone has been a science-based, consumer- and patient-centric company. In its expansion from Spain to France, the US, and now in 120 countries, Danone has always considered the tastes and needs of those we serve, expanding its portfolio to ensure health is at the heart.

 

Danone's story is also about the encounter of like-minded leaders and Danoners who believe that performance and responsibility go hand-in-hand. This belief and these values have kept us relevant over the years and continue to guide how we conduct our business.

Governance

The management of Danone globally and regionally is overseen by the Executive Committee (or “COMEX”) leadership team. The COMEX defines our company strategy and ensures that it’s delivered successfully in all areas of the business. We also have a series of procedures and by-laws to ensure compliance across our operations with external regulations.
