Our origins

Danette was inspired by a creamy dessert called Vla that Danone’s founder, Daniel Carasso, first tasted whilst visiting the Netherlands. Now a mainstay in French supermarkets for over 50 years, Danette was first popularised by the slogan ‘On se lève tous pour Danette!’ (Let’s all stand up for Danette!’).

The majority of Danette products in France are produced using 100% French milk from our dairies in Bailleul, Le Molay-Littry and Saint-Just-Chaleyssin*. We work with partner milk producers located on average within a 60km radius of our three dairies. 

* Danette mousse is produced in Germany
