Taking our goals from commitment to action

Commitments

While it may be easy, Danone is committed to being a force for good. It's in our DNA. That’s why we’ve put in place a variety of frameworks and certifications to help us stay on track to achieve our sustainability goals. These include our new "Société à Mission" status, our journey towards B Corp Certification, and external rankings for transparency, allowing us to be compared with our industry peers.

Upholding accountability and transparency

In 2020, Danone became the first French company to adopt “Société à Mission” status, in line with our long-standing commitment to make a positive difference. This French legal framework, incorporated in our by-laws in June 2020, requires us to fulfill our sustainability commitments.

Addressing critical challenges in society together

B Corp

Another way in which we're show our commitment to positive impact is our B-Corp journey. Our B-Corp status is a way of certifying that our business activities contribute to a greater good. Our practices follow strict rules to respect the environment, and today 82.5% of our sales are covered by B-Corp. We’re determined to be one of the first 100% certified multinational companies by 2025.

Assessing our ESG performance

External recognition

Our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices are assessed externally through ratings and thematic rankings. We choose which assessments we take part in based on criteria including how relevant they are to our goals and how they can help us improve. These evaluations also let people see how we compare to our industry peers.

Our codes of conduct

Policies and positions

Our policies and positions guide our commitment to social responsibility, ensuring we drive our mission with purpose. These policies align with our three core pillars: Health, Nature, and People & Communities, covering everything from nutritional targets to parental rights.

Ensuring food safety

Bringing health through food means ensuring safety every step of the way. Our Food Safety Policy not only meets local laws and regulations but also upholds rigorous standards throughout our supply chain. By collaborating with experts, we’re able to identify and create solutions to any emerging food risks. We also strive to uphold a culture of quality within our workplace.
