Bringing health through food

Health

The foundation of our mission to “bring health through food to as many people as possible” began over 100 years ago. With decades of expertise in health and nutrition, we are uniquely positioned to help consumers and patients support their well-being through nutritious, sustainable food and drink choices. Our guiding belief is that everyone can achieve better health through improved nutrition and behavior.

Across our business and our brands, our commitment to our mission of health through food is unwavering. Since 1996, we’ve been reshaping our portfolio to better support health by acquiring new companies, becoming market leaders, developing strong local brands, and expanding into new regions. Today, following our international expansion, Danone is focused on three categories: Essential Dairy and Plant-Based products, Waters, and Specialized Nutrition.

To further our positive contribution, we launched our new sustainability roadmap in 2023, known as the Danone Impact Journey. The health pillar of this roadmap includes 10 new targets with a focus on reducing sugar and improving nutrition for children.

Our products are consumed regularly by millions of people across the world. We want to have a positive impact on people’s health by developing products that meet consumer preferences and nutritional needs, contributing to a balanced diet.

Our everyday products incorporate key nutrients like calcium, protein, and vitamins, while limiting sugar and saturated fats. One of our key targets for 2025 is further reducing sugar content in our products for children without compromising taste.

Developing and improving recipes

Offer tastier and healthier food and drinks

Our products are consumed everyday by millions of people around the world. By focusing on healthy categories, we can positively impact people’s health through their daily diets. We know that healthy food can and should taste great too. And that’s why we’re continually creating new recipes and improving our existing products to meet consumer preferences and nutritional needs.

Eating a balanced diet

Promote healthier choices

We actively engage with consumers, patients, caretakers and stakeholders in a transparent way to promote healthier dietary habits. This means working to remove any barriers that make it more difficult for customers to purchase and consume healthy products.

We encourage people to make nutritious choices through improved labelling and responsible marketing, and by offering guidance on breastfeeding. We’re committed to displaying easy-to-understand labelling on all products where possible by 2025.

Addressing specific nutrient deficiencies

Provide positive nutrition & hydration for healthier lives

We believe our actions can make a real difference in promoting health and well-being. We’re focusing on key areas where we can make a meaningful difference such as addressing nutritional deficiencies and water security.

Our targets for 2025 include increasing access to safe drinking water, reducing iron-deficiency anemia, supporting breastfeeding women, and enhancing nutrition through product fortification.

The key to creating new recipes

Invest in nutrition, hydration, and research

Research and innovation are at the core of our company. In 1919, founder Isaac Carasso developed the first Danone yogurt by mixing fresh milk and live bacteria together. Today, our expertise in ferments and gut health drives us to deliver healthy food and water worldwide, focusing on children's growth and immunity. We’ll continue to invest in research as part of our targets for 2025, exploring how nutrition can positively impact health from early life to aging.
